Real Madrid 's stars have reportedly all donated money to help the victims of the floods in Spain.

The initiative was led by Brazil star Vinicius Jr, with the players keen to supplement the £830,000 that the club formally pledged.

This undisclosed donation, which the players are keen not to publicise, will go to help the victims in Valencia , as per radio station Cadena SER .

Madrid's stars are said to be 'very sensitive, affected and aware of the reality that the affected families are experiencing'.

Flooding in the Valencia region has killed at least 218 people but that death toll is predicted to rise with many more missing.

It is now over a week since the flash floods initially hit north eastern Spain, leaving a trail of destruction in Valencia, the Catalonian region, and Barcelona .

The deadly floods, the worst Spain has seen in decades, have wreaked havoc and destroyed homes, businesses, and cars while rescue efforts for those trapped are still ongoing.

'It has been a week filled with tragedy and we are saddened. This is the emotion. We are very close to Valencia and all the affected towns,' said Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti ahead of his side's 3-1 defeat by AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

'We stand with them, and hopefully the situation can be resolved soon. I want you to understand that discussing football is complicated. Playing football is also challenging.

'We are part of this country, and this impacts us greatly. Out of respect for everyone, I will try to keep this press conference as simple as possible, as I have no desire to discuss football.'
