Record-breaking temperatures recorded across Northern Michigan

Warm temperatures hung around in Michigan for quite some time this week, with highs in the 50s and 60s across the state. That time has passed and we’re now back to more seasonable temperatures, but we managed to break some records during that warm spell. Thursday was a particularly warm day in Northern Michigan. The National Weather Service in Gaylord reported high temperatures across the region easily topping 60 degrees in their coverage area. Traverse City had the highest recorded temperature at 69 degrees yesterday afternoon, and several other places were close to that high with temperatures reaching 67 and 66 degrees. High temperatures that occurred on the 16th, with a couple of record and near record setting cases.National Weather Service In general, high temperatures reached the mid to upper 60s yesterday, with only a few areas staying in the low 60s. Pellston broke its record high of 63, setting a new one for 65, while Sault Ste. Marie tied its record of 60. Further west into the U.P., temperatures were also unseasonably warm. High temperatures in the mid 50s to low 60s were recorded across the peninsula. In Marquette, the previous daily record high was broken, and replaced with a high of 61 by Thursday evening. Hopefully you enjoyed the unseasonable warmth while it lasted, because high temperatures are going to decrease back into the upper 30s and low 40s for the next few days, and things are going to remain on the chilly side.
