The Texas Tech Red Raiders accomplished a number of things in Saturday's 30-22 win over new Big 12 foe Arizona State, including getting the win, first and foremost.

Texas Tech notched its 600th win in program history with the victory and running back Tahj Brooks took over the No. 5 spot on the all-time Red Raiders career rushing list.

Brooks was going to get as many carries as necessary for the win, and he ended the day with 27 for 117 yards. Backup rusher Cam'Ron Valdez is out for the season after he sustained a practice injury this week, which opens a door, and Cameron Dickey is ready for the challenge.

While Brooks was option No. 1 for the Red Raiders' offense on Saturday, Dickey did get three carries for 24 yards while splitting time with J'Koby Williams who got two carries for seven yards.

"I know it's unfortunate for that injury to happen," Dickey said Tuesday per Nathan Giese of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal , "but I think since I've been here, I've just been working on preparation, getting ready."

Now Dickey could be taking on an expanded role in the offense when Brooks needs a rest.

Dickey had already taken on a new role just coming to Lubbock to play running back.

During his high school career, he primarily played quarterback, although he did more running than passing. He totaled more than 7,000 total yards and 90 touchdowns as a dual-threat player.

But he saw an opportunity with the Red Raiders.

"I think I'm real humble about it," Dickey said." ... I had a great opportunity here. Just took that and the rest is history."
