LOMA LINDA, CA — An investigation into a stabbing earlier this year in Loma Linda has led to the recent arrests of two Redlands men, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced.

George Anthony Avila, 19, and George Moses Avila, 40, were taken into custody Nov. 6 on suspicion of a late-night Sept. 11 stabbing near the intersection of California Street and Redlands Boulevard. Both arrests occurred at a home in the 1300 block of Texas Street in Redlands, according to jail records.

It's not clear whether the two Avila men are related.

Their arrests followed an investigation at a grisly crime scene. Deputies found the victim in [a] wash area. The person was "bleeding heavily from multiple stab and slash wounds," according to the sheriff's department.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was sent to a local medical center for treatment. An update on the person's medical condition was not known.

According to the sheriff's department, the area where the stabbing occurred "is known to be frequented by local transients who engage in unlawful drug activities. It is believed the assault occurred over the sales and/or use of fentanyl."

A description of the two Avila men was released following the stabbing, but their identities were not known at the time. According to the sheriff's department, witnesses described one of the men as a Hispanic male who possibly went by the moniker of "Lil G." The other man was described as a white male. The suspect vehicle was reported as a dark blue, four-door sedan with tinted windows.

It's unclear what led detectives to the Avila men, who both remained held Monday in San Bernardino County jail on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
