'Remember Me': Holmdel Police Honor Motor Vehicle Crash Victims Police have placed signs in each Holmdel location where someone died due to a motor vehicle crash as part of the "Remember Me" campaign.HOLMDEL, NJ — The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims took place on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Held around the world each year, the day aims to remember the millions of people killed or seriously injured on the road and acknowledges the suffering of all affected victims, families, friends and communities.
In Holmdel, police are honoring road traffic victims with their "Remember Me" Campaign, which aims to commemorate lives lost in motor vehicle accidents throughout Holmdel Township.
Introduced by Ptl. Matthew Menosky as part of the department's Goal Zero: Traffic Safety Initiative, the campaign has placed "Remember Me" signs at each location where someone lost their life due to a motor vehicle crash in Holmdel. Each victim is remembered by their own sign.
The campaign is set to run through Nov. 25, police said.
"Traffic deaths have been on a staggering rise over the last few years," police said. "We want to remind drivers to avoid distractions, follow posted speed limits, don't text and drive, don't drive impaired and buckle up on every ride."
"A tragedy can happen at any time," police continued. "Please drive responsibly every time."
