Remembering Pat Sheehan in Kerry memorial walk – ‘He brightened every room’
C.Brown2 hr ago
However, a special memorial walk on the Bank Holiday Monday was an opportunity for family and friends to remember the Kerry man. Pat grew up in Maulykevane, Headford before moving to Glounacopple, Kilcummin where he lived with his wife Geraldine and their daughter Ilona. He played football with Kilcummin and soccer with Old Chapel Rovers, Rathmore for many years, always minding his fellow players on the pitch. Pat was a valued and well-known employee at the Gleneagle Hotel. He was a coach for both Killarney and Kerry Camogie. For anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Pat, they would mention his infectious smile and his ability to brighten anyone's day with his sense of humour. Pat sadly passed away on December 19 2022, aged 52 at his home. Pat was full of life, active and leading a healthy lifestyle. He was an early riser and would take off cycling or running in the early hours so his death came as a huge shock to all those that knew him. Around 250 walkers gathered to take part in the memorial walk which also helped raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation. The walk was supported by the Gleneagle Hotel and his nieces Eimear and Noirín and friends Gerard and Jerry and Anthony who helped organise the event. John Dolan who is the General Manager at the Gleneagle explained how important Pat was to everyone. "Pat was one of a kind, a cherished member of the Gleneagle team for 26 years. He was dedicated and professional, always bringing warmth and a sense of humour that brightened every room. No challenge was too big for him, he embraced everything with a smile and a can-do attitude. He had a unique way of connecting with his colleagues with his quick wit and warm heart. If you were looking for him, you'd often find him in the pastry section, offering his opinions on the newest desserts, always eager to share a laugh. We miss him and will cherish our memories forever. Anthony O'Mahony thanked everyone who supported the event "I would like to thank Eimear, Noirin, Jerry and Gerard and the Gleneagle Hotel. Thanks is also due to everyone who walked with us on Pats memorial Walk and all those who contributed to the Irish Heart Foundation."
