Rep. Allen Treadaway reacts to Birmingham mass shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama State Rep. Allen Treadaway, R-Morris, joined CBS 42 Morning News to discuss this weekend's mass shooting in Birmingham and what the state legislation aims to do to assist law enforcement.

Police confirmed during a news conference Sunday that four people were killed and 17 others were injured in the shooting. Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated the preliminary investigation shows that "multiple" suspects fired on a large group of people who were in an outside public area in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue. Police were dispatched to the area just after 11 p.m. on report of shots fired. No one is in custody.

The ATF and FBI are helping the BPD in the investigation. Those with information on the case are urged to call the BPD at 205-254-1764 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. Crime Stoppers could award tipsters up to $5,000.
