"Sources: Nebraska is adding former Houston and West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen to the staff as an offensive consultant," Thamel tweeted this morning. "He'll work with the offensive staff in a role that will evolve as the season goes on."
Holgorsen has spent the past three decades on collegiate sidelines, including being a head coach in the 13 seasons prior to this one with eight at West Virginia and five at Houston. The Cougars fired him last offseason with him posting a record of 31-28 (.525). That brought his overall mark as a head coach to 92-69 (.571).
Over the 2000s, Holgorsen worked as an assistant in the Big 12 at Oklahoma State, Houston, and Texas Tech. He did so with work as an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and receivers coach. He also worked at Wingate, Mississippi College, and Valdosta State in similar offensive roles during the 1990s.
