Report Of Suspicious Vehicle Leads To Arrest Of Woman In Greenwich: PD Police said they believe the woman "may be connected with burglaries that have occurred recently in Greenwich."

GREENWICH, CT — A woman was found with fake documents and tools commonly used to commit burglaries after police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Backcountry on Nov. 16, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

Kemberly Gagliano was arrested and charged with interfering with an officer, second-degree forgery and improper use of a marker, license or registration plate, police said in a news release.

"At this time, it is believed that Gagliano may be connected with burglaries that have occurred recently in Greenwich," police said. "The Greenwich Police Department is continuing to investigate further."

On Nov. 16 at approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Alpine Road on a report of a woman, later identified as Gagliano, driving a "suspicious" BMW without a visible registration plate, police said.

Officers found the BMW parked on the side of the road with Gagliano inside and the car's headlights on and engine running, according to police.

Gagliano tried to identify herself with a Mexican passport, which listed her name as Angelica Santos Chavez, and she told officers she was waiting to pick up her friend, police said.

In addition to the passport, Gagliano provided a Mexican driver's license, a Mexican international driver's license and a New Jersey paper registration to the BMW, police said, adding that the passport and driver's licenses were later all determined to be fake.

Officers noticed within Gagliano's vehicle a second registration plate from Ohio, a Sawzall container, flashlight, dark pieces of clothing, dark hats and dark gloves partially underneath the rear passenger seat, police said.

"Based on the officers' training and experience, the items observed in the rear of the vehicle are known to be commonly used to commit burglaries," police said. "After being presented with the facts and circumstances, Gagliano stated that she did not want to speak with officers anymore and requested a lawyer."

Several Greenwich police units, a police K9 Unit and the Westchester County Helicopter Unit searched the area for any other potential burglary suspects, but none were found, police said.

Gagliano was held on a $100,000 bond and given a court date of Dec. 2 in Stamford Superior Court.
