Republican Steve Christy's lead grows in Pima County supervisor race

District 4 supervisor Steve Christy's narrow lead over Democrat Vanessa Bechtol expanded Thursday, unofficial results show.

Christy's lead of 417 votes first appeared late Wednesday afternoon on the results page of the Arizona Secretary of State's Office.

As of about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, that margin had expanded to 1,172, about 50.7% of votes counted so far.

There have been 82,630 votes counted in the race so far. There are 147,486 active voters in the district, according to the Pima County Recorder's Office .

Christy, the sole Republican on the Board of Supervisors, was first elected in 2016 and is seeking his third term. He is currently the longest-serving supervisor.
