(WBTW) — Rescuers in Pawleys Island are searching in the ocean for a missing woman, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

The search began after a man was helped from the surf and told Pawleys Island police that he had been in the water with the woman, deputies said. She is believed to be in her early 20s and wearing a pink bathing suit.

The sheriff's office has deployed a marine unit and a drone to assist in the search, which also involves a Pawleys Island police jet ski unit and a drone from Midway Fire Rescue. A U.S. Coast Guard unit is on its way to the area.
