Residents at Alexandria complex endure broken safety features and unresponsive management

Residents huddled in the lobby at the Arrive 2801 apartments in Alexandria said they were fed up with malfunctioning and outright broken safety features around the complex.

They point to automatic doors at the main entrance and the parking gates that, they said, were not being kept up.

They also said the fire alarms going off is such a common occurrence that no one evacuates.

Other renters complained that their neighbors frequently get stuck in the elevators.

As 7News arrived, one group was leaving the building after being rescued by the Alexandria Fire Department.

"This is what happens when you're not prepared," said resident Amu Amo about apartment owner Trinity PM. "This is what's upsetting us the most."

On the day 7News went to the apartment, residents had just gone through the day without electricity or water after they said repair work for a generator and electric panel stretched over 12 hours.

"You have to take into consideration folks with babies, elderly folks, folks with disabilities, folks who have stuff to do like work from home," Amo said.

The week before, residents said a transformer went out.

Prior to that, they said the boiler room exploded back in September and that knocked out power for three days.

They said their complaints and concerns to Trinity PM have been widely ignored and followed with a lack of communication, transparency, and attention.

So, 7News made attempts to get through as well after giving them a week to respond to initial requests.

The staff at Arrive 2801 finally answered but abruptly hung up the phone.

On the second call, a staff member said no one would answer questions.

They followed that by saying that no one at the corporate level would listen or respond to reports of resident concerns.

A call to the Trinity PM corporate office also ended with the attendant hanging up before anyone could address the issues.

"It's the consistency of the inconsistent amenities that keep failing," said Amo. "Lights, A/C, we're talking about water, and doors not being functional. Everything that you can think of that an apartment should have, especially one of this caliber that claims it's luxury. It doesn't give me luxury vibes."

Residents said they deserve to be reimbursed.

"We really ask them to do the bare minimum which is maintain everything and make sure that everything is working," said Amo. "Trinity PM needs to do the right thing by us."
