Restored Center Street Park Is Now Open In Metuchen New updates include an accessible swing set, climbing structure, and more.METUCHEN, NJ – The improvement work to Metuchen's Harold C. Junker Kiwanis Park, or Center Street Park, is complete and open to residents.
Mayor Jonathan M Busch recently attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony along with children from the Radio District.
"This park has held a special place in the heart of our Radio District community for many years, and today we're excited to bring back the vibrancy and joy that it has always offered to the families and children of our Borough," Busch said.
The old slide on the hill — that was an icon of the park had to be removed for safety reasons.
The updated features include a new accessible swing set, climbing structure, soft rubber surface for children to play on, and more.
"It's a place where neighborhood kids can be kids, safely and joyfully, with plenty of space to run and explore," Busch said.
The updates are part of the Borough's ongoing investment in Metuchen's recreational spaces.
Busch thanked Middlesex Water for its support in making the project possible, and our Borough Administrator, Melissa Perilstein, for her dedication and hard work in bringing the project to life.
"I hope this playground brings years of laughter, friendship, and memories to the children of Metuchen, just as it has for generations before them," Busch said.
