RHOSLC star Monica Garcia breaks silence after losing 'lip injection' legal battle to co-star Heather Gay

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum Monica Garcia has finally addressed losing her legal battle over unpaid lip injections to former castmate Heather Gay .

Dubbed the show's 'villain,' Garcia, 40, was ordered on Monday to pay Gay $35,853.60 following an August 2023 breach-of-contract suit, in which Gay claimed Garcia never paid for cosmetic services provided by her company, Beauty Lab.

On Wednesday, Garcia took to her Instagram Stories to comment, explaining that she'd waited a day out of respect for the 2024 Presidential Election .

'There is so much happening in our country and world that it's astounding to me that a lawsuit is even on anyone's radar. But here we are,' the reality star began.

She then explained her attorneys had also issued a statement, calling the ruling 'a shocking and bad decision' and confirming plans to appeal, expressing confidence in a favorable outcome.

'I would say that I was surprised by the disgusting hateful comments online rejoicing in my 'downfall,' but after seeing the decisions happening around us, I'm not surprised at all,' Monica continued.

'Hate, discrimination, the desire to destroy, and glorify in people's pain has absolutely taken over this nation,' she said.

Garcia shared more of her thoughts, expressing to followers that, regardless of the recent court decision, her daughters keep her feeling 'so grateful and blessed.'

'There is so much in my life happening that I have to be thankful and that I'm so excited about. At the end of the day, being sued by someone is minuscule in the grand scheme of things.'

Monica's comments come after a judge also ordered that Gay's company can collect 'post-judgment interest' at a rate of 18% until the judgment amount is paid in full.

'Plaintiff is entitled to recover all future collection costs, court costs, and attorney's fees incurred in enforcing and collecting this judgment,' the filing read.

Monica's attorney Larry Reed fired back at the judgment, disputing having to pay Gay's attorney fees in the settlement.

'The amount of fees sought by plaintiff is greatly excessive in view of the amount in dispute in this action,' the filing read.

However, the judge denied the request, though Reed later revealed they will be appealing that judgment.

'An appeal will be filed. We are confident,' Reed said in a brief statement about the ongoing matter.

The initial lawsuit filed last August stated that Garcia signed a contract with Beauty Lab in December 2019 to pay $2,449 for 'cosmetic injection services.'

The lawsuit alleges that Garcia only paid one initial payment of $449, a $400 down payment plus a $49 set-up fee.

After that, Garcia was supposed to make 10 monthly payments of $200 but never made any such payment.

The company argued that they, 'suffered, and continues to suffer, significant losses and damages' from Garcia's failure to pay up.

A month after the original lawsuit, Garcia filed a countersuit for 'breach of independent duty of care, breach of contract, and breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing.'

She admitted to only paying the $449 in that filing, but said that she didn't pay because she felt she, 'received defective, negligently given injections, which did not have the intended, promised result.'

She added Beauty Lab's injections were 'botched' and resulted in her going to a, 'competent party to fix the damage.'

Garcia's countersuit was dismissed back in January, due to statute of limitations and since she, 'failed to obtain a certificate of compliance from the Division of Professional Licensing.'
