D.Davis1 hr ago

Scranton Police have announced a series of road closures for the next several hours.

According to Scranton Police,Cedar Avenue between Lackawanna Avenue and the Central Scranton Expressway is closed until further notice.

Additionally,South Washington Avenue and Mattes Avenue are now closed as well.

The closures appear to be associated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to theScranton Army Ammunition Plant on Cedar Ave.

The White House and the Governor's office have been tight-lipped about the visit.

After visiting Scranton, Zelenskyy will address the U.N. General Assembly annual gathering in New York and travel to Washington on Thursday for talks with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Scranton plant is one of the few facilities in the country to manufacture 155 mm artillery shells.
