Robert Jweinat still holds lead over Vasanth Shetty in tight San Ramon D1 council seat
Jweinat slightly increased his lead 50.84% (4.124 votes) to 49.16% (3 988 votes), according to the Contra Costa Elections Department.
Both candidates are vying for longtime councilmember Scott Perkins' seat, after Perkins stepped down following five terms.
The results are still unofficial.
District 3 City Councilmember Sridhar Verose is running unopposed this year.
In the mayoral race, Mark Armstrong still had a commanding lead over Chirag Kathrani. Armstrong had 69.60% of the vote (24,323 votes) over Kathrani's 30.40% (10,623 votes).
Armstrong will likely replace Dave Hudson, the current mayor and longtime councilmember who is retiring. Armstrong is a former FEMA official and U.S. Army colonel who filled in for Hudson when the mayor had a stroke in 2023.
