Robotics company launches Las Vegas branch

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The future of robotic technology is coming to Las Vegas.

"Humans, do not forget you invented us, a robot at RobotLab's Las Vegas branch opening on Wednesday proclaimed. "Think of us as your techie sidekick like a Swiss army knife,"

It sounds like something straight out of a science fiction movie.

The nearly four-foot-tall robot costs as much as a new car and can perform human tasks, along with singing, dancing, and fist bumping.

Jacob Fisher, General Manager and President of the new RobotLab Las Vegas branch, hopes their robots can alleviate some of the duties of their human counterpart.

"Let the robots do the backbreaking mundane repetitive tasks and let the humans do the human interaction," he said.

For business owner Lauren Anderson she sees an opportunity to put these robots to use.

"It's definitely the future of the workforce," Anderson explained. "I'm thinking efficiency, I'm thinking low costs."

Fisher said people will still be essential in the future.

"There's always going to be a person needed to maintain and service the robots. So we are just going to have robot conductors."

The Dallas-based RobotLab Group has been around for the last 17 years and works to incorporate robots in a variety of jobs from customer service to cleaning to even firefighting.

Their Las Vegas branch is talking to local businesses about incorporating them here in the valley. So the next time you order a drink you might see one of these coming to your table. In some cases, they already are.
