A Rock Hill 17-year-old faces charges after he and another person were shot Thursday afternoon during a struggle for a gun the teen pulled out during a THC vape sale, police said.

Ervin Jackie Stephan Myers is being charged as an adult with attempted murder, attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to a written statement from the Rock Hill Police Department .

The shooting happened shortly before 5 p.m. in a vehicle in the parking lot of apartments on Patriot Parkway. The area is off Cherry Road south of Interstate 77.

Myers allegedly pulled a gun to rob the other person involved in the vape sale when the two struggled over the weapon, Rock Hill police Lt. Michael Chavis said Friday morning. THC is the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. A THC vape works by heating oil cartridges so people can inhale the vapor.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was shot in the abdomen and taken to an area hospital. The victim's condition was unclear Friday.

Myers was shot in the arm, police said. He will be served arrest warrants when released from medical care, police said.

Police recovered the gun, Chavis said. No one else was hurt.
