Rome Odunze Takes the Lead

I have been tracking a lot of different stats this year for Windy City Gridiron, and one tracker that I haven't shared since the summer is Rome Odunze's rookie year. With his second 100-yard game of the year under his belt, Odunze pulled ahead in the "race to 1,000 yards," a conversation from camp that involved the trio of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Odunze. Now, the sad reality is that at this pace, no Chicago Bears receiver will make it to 1,000 yards, but let's reserve a modicum of hope that the passing offense gets it figured out. I expected Rome to be used as more of a deep play threat and red zone target than he has so far, resulting in only one TD. Obviously, he's not going to come close to Harlon Hill and Mike Ditka's shared rookie mark of 12. Similarly, I don't think there's much of a chance that Odunze can turn it on in the back half of the year to eclipse Hill's 1,124 yards as a rookie. However, I do think that Matt Forte's rookie reception record of 63 is still in play. Odunze is only five grabs behind Forte at this point on the calendar, and he gets the extra game. He needs to average 4.33 catches per game for the rest of the season to catch Forte. Do you think Odunze will finish with the most receiving yards among Bears wideouts this year? Will he catch Forte?
