Rotary Club of Greenville celebrates 7th Annual Field of Heroes

GREENVILLE, N.C (WNCT) — In Greenville people are honoring their personal heroes in a special way.

The Rotary Clubs of Greenville geared up for their 7th Annual Field of Heroes at the Town Commons on Saturday.

During the program organizers prayed, sang songs and paid tribute to their heroes. There were over 500 flags displayed on the field, this heartfelt event offers community members the chance to honor their heroes with the American flag.

"It is for people to make a dedication to a hero in their lives. We have a lot of military we have a lot of teachers, doctors, nurses, we put out flags for individuals and companies would sponsor the flags and we have some large flags in the back for that." said Jack Brueckner, Greenville Rotary Club.

Organizers said that proceeds from the Field of Heroes will support Joy Soup Kitchen in their mission to feed those in need.
