Rouse junior quarterback London Morgan started playing quarterback in kindergarten Faces off the field gives a deeper look into the thoughts and lives of high school student-athletes in the Austin area. Today we feature London Morgan, a junior quarterback for Rouse who's loved playing quarterback pretty much his entire life.

All about London: How about flying to the beach like Superman?

If you could be any superhero, who would you be?

I would be Superman so I can fly, have super strength and have X-ray vision.

What was the best thing you did this summer?

The best thing I did this summer was go to Port Aransas with my family and a couple of my friends' families. We go every year and rent out a house for a couple days.

If you could travel anywhere in outer space, where would you go?

I would go to the moon so I can see what the Earth looks like from a different perspective.

Is there a story on how you got the name London?

My mom wanted a unique name, something that was different and stands out.

Do you have plans after you graduate?

My dreams have always been to play college ball at the highest level. Ever since I was young, football has always been my thing. I still continue those aspirations.

Tell me how you got started playing quarterback

The first day I started tackle football in kindergarten, after my mom thought she was signing me up for a flag league, I fell in love with it. Quarterback was kind of like human nature to me. Ever since I can remember, I was always the one throwing the ball and never running or catching.

A peculiar game-day ritual gets London ready to play

Do you have any game-day rituals?

In the beginning of my sophomore year, when we were playing Lake Belton, in my first start, I threw up before the game out of nerves. Ever since that, I have thrown up right before warmups before every game. It has almost become part of the schedule and became normal to me.

What has been your favorite high school football memory?

My favorite memory from my football career would be last year as a sophomore when we went to round 2 for the playoffs. We played Port Neches-Groves, the (2023) state champions for (Class) 5A DII. Even though it didn't go how we wanted, we still had so much fun competing and just spending our last game with the class of '24. The last moments giving all the seniors hugs is something I will never forget.

How do you motivate yourself to play when you're having a bad day?

If I'm ever having a bad day on the field or practice, I just remind myself how lucky and blessed I am to be able to play this game I love. I should appreciate everyone that has helped me get to the point I'm at and understand that there are some people that are not as fortunate. This is something my head coach, Joshua Mann, preaches almost on the daily. If ever we are not having the best practice or there's not good effort, he reminds us that not many people are as fortunate as we are and we should not take that for granted.

Dream dinner: A blend of comedy and football expertise

If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

I would choose Tom Brady, Adam Sandler, Mike McDaniel and Kevin Hart.

Why this group and what would the meal be?

I picked these people because it would be fun to have two comedians to talk to while also getting to talk football with the greats. I think the most appropriate main course would have to be a big seafood boil full of crab legs, crawfish and shrimp.
