Rumer Willis Says Parents Bruce Willis and Demi Moore Still 'Love and Support' Each Other (Exclusive)

Rumer Willis is thankful her parents Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have remained close despite their divorce 24 years ago .

While speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of her upcoming movie, Trail of Vengeance, on Thursday, Oct. 17, Rumer, 36, praised her famous parents for setting a good example when it comes to raising a blended family.

Rumer — who shares her 18-month-old daughter Louetta with her ex Derek Richard Thomas — tells PEOPLE, "I'm so grateful. I think one of the most beautiful things to witness about my parents' relationship still is just their love and support of each other."

Along with Rumer, Bruce, 69, and Demi, 61, share daughters Scout , 33, and Tallulah , 30, together, while the Die Hard actor also has daughters Mabel Ray, 12, and Evelyn Penn, 10 , with his wife Emma Heming Willis , whom he married in 2009.

"It means so much to me, the way that my mom, and I think to all of my sisters and I, the way that my mom shows up for all of us as we are working with it, as she is working with it, even how she is with my other little sisters," Rumer continues.

"We go over to dinner at Emma's house with the girls and we're family. And I think family can look differently in a lot of ways, but it's just about what it means," she adds.

Rumer praises her parents for never pitting "the kids against each other" like her best friends' parents did when they were younger living in Idaho.

"I never had to split a holiday. We never had to split family vacations or Christmases or birthdays. And I think that a lot of the time, it's just our own ego," Rumer tells PEOPLE.

"If you put your kids first, if you're fighting with that person and can't put aside whatever it is for your kid, that's about you. That's how I feel about it. And I know it's challenging sometimes," she adds.

When it comes to co-parenting with her ex Derek, Rumer says the former couple are still close.

"I feel like my parents set such an unbelievable example, even when they separated of the co-parenting dynamic, and Derek's my best friend, and that has not changed," she tells PEOPLE. "We have found an amazing way to keep our friendship and our loving co-parenting relationship. And I think both of us are so happy that we can have that for ourselves as well as for Lou."

Bruce and Demi married on Nov. 21, 1987, before finalizing their divorce in October 2000. Through the years, the couple have spoken fondly of one another and have posed for multiple family snaps at gatherings.

In February 2021, Demi revealed the family had been quarantined together during the pandemic .
