CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - If you love teachers and want to support them, there is an event this weekend you won't want to miss.

LCSD1 and the Cheyenne Schools Foundation are hosting their annual "Run for Number 1′′.

This event helps fundraise teacher grants for extra activities or equipment to enrich the class curriculum.

"They've started student-run businesses, and they've bought art supplies. They've taken students to Denver for plays. They've even done civil war re-enactments and some things like that so the teachers are very innovative and they use their money very wisely," says James Yates, President & Board Dir. Cheyenne School Foundation

The 5k walk/run is happening tomorrow at Lions Park.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and costs $35 for adults and $15 for students.

Schools earn $3 per adult and $1 per student registration.

Additionally, the schools with the most money raised and highest participation could earn an extra $500.
