Russell Wilson shattering recent Pittsburgh Steelers QB history

S.Brown10 hr ago
LANDOVER, Md. - Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is setting paces that recent quarterbacks of the team could only dream of hitting. Wilson had three touchdowns against the Washington Commanders in the team's 28-27 win.

That three touchdown performance is the first game in whcih a Steelers quarterback has thrown three touchdowns since December 9, 2021, when Ben Roethlisberger did it against the Minnesota Vikings.

However, Wilson is shattering all recent quarterback history for the Steelers . Through three games, he has six touchdown passes and 737 passing yards. Both of those marks are the highest since Roethlsiberger was starting, and he has already equaled Kenny Pickett's touchdown total from the entire 2023 season. With two more touchdowns, Wilson would have the most passing touchdowns sicne Roethlisberger retired.

With Wilson's small sample size, he is showcasing ust how much of an upgrade he is over the other quarterbacks that have played for the Steelers over the last few years under offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

All that is to say, it illustrates how poor the quarterback play for the Steelers was over the last few seasons, and showcases just how much Wilson has upgraded the unit.
