Russia behind bombs threats which disrupted Georgia polling sites, state official says

A series of bomb threats which forced two Georgia polling sites to delay voting Tuesday originated from Russia, the state's secretary of state announced.

The threats, eventually deemed non-credible, caused the temporary closure of two sites in Fulton County. Georgia Secretary of State BradRaffensperger said during a press conference that voting was postponed for a half hour at the locations while investigations were carried out.

Raffensperger told reporters the threats were determined to be of Russian origin, but he did not elaborate on why officials came to that conclusion.

They're up to mischief, it seems," he said. "They don't want us to have a smooth, fair and accurate election."

The secretary also claimed Russia's "whole motive" is "to try to destabilize America."

"You know what? You don't have much going for you that if you can try to destabilize America, then that's probably the best you can do," Raffensperger asserted.

The FBI also weighed in Tuesday, affirming that bomb threats facing polling sites in several states "appear to originate from Russian email domains."

"Election integrity is among the FBI's highest priorities," the FBI said. "We will continue to work closely with our state and local law enforcement partners to respond to any threats to our elections and to protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote."

Georgia on Friday announced that more than 4 million residents had voted through either early voting or absentee ballot. The state is considered a must-win battleground state for either Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump Tuesday.
