RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - A non-profit organization in Lincoln Parish is asking the community for help this holiday season.

The Junior Auxiliary of Ruston is hosting its 37th annual Christmas Clearinghouse Service Project, where Pre-K through fifth-grade students are nominated by their teachers to receive necessities during Christmastime.

Once a child has been nominated all children under 18 in that household are also included in that nomination. After that, community members can choose to "adopt" or sponsor a child or the whole family.

How does it work?

  • Sponsor a child - Send the Junior Auxiliary of Ruston $50 and they will shop for the child's essentials, wrap and deliver the gift.
  • Adopt a child - You will be given information on the child. Then you will spend at least $50 on essential items for your adoptee. You are required to wrap and deliver the gift by Dec. 20.
  • No toys allowed - This project focuses on providing children with essential items. Junior Auxiliary of Ruston has a separate project for those wanting to donate toys.
  • To adopt a child, email or message the Junior Auxiliary of Ruston on their Facebook page .
