Sacramento opens respite centers, SacRT offers free rides

(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento has opened two of its respite centers with more wet weather on the way.

The respite centers at the Outreach and Engagement Center at 3615 Auburn Blvd. and the North 5th Street Navigation Center at 700 North Fifth St. have been opened through Friday morning.

The OEC opened at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and will remain open until 8 a.m. on Friday. This space can take up to 50 people and will have storage for personnel belongings.

The Navigation Center will open before 8 p.m. on Wednesday and remain open until 6 a.m. on Thursday. It will reopen at 8 p.m. on Thursday and close at 6 a.m. on Friday.

Twenty people will be accepted into the Navigation Center and no pets are allowed.

In addition to the openings, Sacramento Regional Transit is offering free rides to activated weather respite centers through Friday.

Free rides will be available on fixed-route buses and light rail in SacRT's service area.

The agency says to present this free ride flyer to the driver upon boarding or light rail fair inspection personnel upon request to receive a free ride.
