Safety Meeting: Is Natchitoches safe for tourists and our kids?

WHEN: Tuesday, October 1, 2024 TIME:LOCATION: Council Chambers, 716 Second Street, Natchitoches PRESENTERS: Mayor Ronnie Williams, Police Chief Collins & NPD Staff

Dear Mayor Williams:

I met with you after the last safety meeting. I was just informed there will be another safety meeting which I am very excited to see but once again it is before 5:00pm.

As I stated when I met with you, everyone's concern was that it needed to be after 5:00pm so that working people could attend. Our office is open until 5:00pm and our employees work until 5:00pm.

Please tell the Taxpayer, Voters and General Public why we cannot have a meeting at 5:30pm or later.

A 3:30pm meeting is not a good time for working folks and it is in the middle of people picking up children from school. A 3:30pm meeting will exclude the Taxpayers, Voters and General Public from attending a very important meeting about the safety of Natchitoches.

Note: I asked that my name be withheld because of the Mayor's bullying and attack methods to divert attention from the real issues. Mayor Williams likes to "shoot the messenger" and then "sweep the truth under the rug"

"Shoot the messenger" – a metaphoric phrase used to describe the act of blaming the bearer of bad news, despite the bearer or messenger having no direct responsibility for the bad news or its consequences.
