Sep. 23—Saint Anselm College is offering free tuition in an effort to entice more New Hampshire students to attend.

To qualify, students must be residents of the Granite State, first-year college students, live on campus, have a high school GPA of 3.25 or higher, and an annual family income of $100,000 or less. Students must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete the application process.

The initiative at the Goffstown college has been dubbed the Anselmian Community Commitment.

"We understand the cost of a college education is challenging for so many families," Saint Anselm President Joseph A. Favazza said in a statement. "With Anselmian Community Commitment, we are investing in the future of New Hampshire by making a Saint Anselm education affordable to as many talented, high-achieving students as possible, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

"This commitment is completely aligned with our Catholic and Benedictine mission."

As long as a student's family income remains under $100,000 and they maintain a 2.5 GPA, that student will maintain the Anselmian Community Commitment for four years.

Any outside scholarship may be applied to additional costs like food and housing, comprehensive fees, books, and personal expenses.

Tuition for Saint Anselm College is listed as $47,400 for the 2024-2025 academic year, according to the school's website.

Food and housing costs are estimated at $17,020, comprehensive fees $1,520 (first-year students incur a one-time estimated additional $350 fee for the first-year experience), with books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses estimated at $4,492.

In the event of an increase in the cost of tuition, eligible students will continue to be tuition-free, as long as requirements to maintain the Anselmian Community Commitment are met.

Saint Anselm reported the second- and third-largest classes enrolling over the past two years. Last year, 99% of the class of 2023 was employed, continuing their education, or in the service within nine months after graduation, according to the school's website.
