State Sen. Joan Lovely's office announced the grant that will support in- and out-of-school lessons and activities that help students discover and develop their personal interests, skills, talents, and passions for potential future pursuits.

"This grant is a great opportunity for Salem Public Schools to help students discover their potential and prepare for future career success," Sen. Lovely said in a statement to Patch. "By providing career exploration at an early age, we're giving students the tools to make informed decisions about their futures."

The program focuses on three domains for college, career, and civic readiness — personal, social, and emotional development, career development, and academic planning — helping students build a foundation for lifelong success.
