Saline soccer senior earns Athlete of the Week honors with memorable performance

ANN ARBOR - Jaedyn Sifuna saved his best for last.

The Saline boys soccer senior made crucial plays throughout the season, but none were greater than what he did for the Hornets in their regional final clash with Monroe on Oct. 25.

When Saline needed a boost, Sifuna was there as he scored two goals to help the Hornets beat Monroe to win the regional title and earn the team's first state semifinals appearance since 2008.

That performance not only got the Hornets into the Final Four, but it helped Sifuna claim Ann Arbor-area Fall Sports Athlete of the Week honors.

Sifuna earned more than 70% of the total votes, beating out the other 15 candidates in the field.

Saline volleyball standout Marie Laurio placed second and Dexter swimmer Kayce McAllister finished third overall.
