San Ramon Police Receive $40K Traffic Safety Grant The grant will focus on increased enforcement for traffic safety, and community education programs.

SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon Police Department received a $40,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support enforcement and traffic safety education.

The grant, which lasts through September 2025, will provide additional programs and resources, including:

  • High-visibility distracted driving enforcement operations, targeting drivers violating California's hands-free cell phone law
  • Enforcement operations focused on the most dangerous driving behaviors that endanger cyclists and pedestrians
  • Enforcement operations focused on the violations most responsible for crashes, like speeding, failure to yield, stop sign and red light violations, and improper turning or lane changes.
  • Community presentations on traffic safety issues.
  • Collaborative enforcement efforts with neighboring agencies
  • Officer training and/or recertification in Standard Field Sobriety Test, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and Drug Recognition Expert
