San Ramon Police Receive $40K Traffic Safety Grant The grant will focus on increased enforcement for traffic safety, and community education programs.

SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon Police Department received a $40,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support enforcement and traffic safety education.

The grant, which lasts through September 2025, will provide additional programs and resources, including:

High-visibility distracted driving enforcement operations, targeting drivers violating California's hands-free cell phone law

Enforcement operations focused on the most dangerous driving behaviors that endanger cyclists and pedestrians

Enforcement operations focused on the violations most responsible for crashes, like speeding, failure to yield, stop sign and red light violations, and improper turning or lane changes.

Community presentations on traffic safety issues.

Collaborative enforcement efforts with neighboring agencies

Officer training and/or recertification in Standard Field Sobriety Test, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and Drug Recognition Expert
