Saturday sports spectacular: High school volleyball playoffs, college football season finale and MSU hoops under the dome

Saturday November 16, 2024 was jam-packed when it comes to local sports in Texoma! Midwestern State football played its season finale against Western New Mexico. It was military appreciation day at Memorial Stadium, and the Mustangs treated a raucous crowd to a 52-24 victory. In the high school volleyball world, the regional final round of the playoffs continues! Harrold and Saint Jo met in the class 1A regional final at Midlothian High School. The Lady Hornets won in straight sets, advancing to the state semifinals: At Abilene Wylie high school, Nocona battled Wink in a class 2A division one regional final. The Lady 'Cats won in straight sets: Holliday met up with Tolar at the class 3A division two level in a regional final played at Graham high school. The Lady Rattlers won in four sets: 25-21 25-18 15-25 25-22 In the college basketball world, Midwestern State hosted a doubleheader under the dome at D.L. Ligon coliseum. The MSU women's basketball team hosted Central Oklahoma for a non-conference matchup. The Bronchos won 58-52. Afterwards, the men's basketball team took to the hardwood. Adams State visited Wichita Falls for a non-conference game. At the time of our newscast, the Mustangs and Grizzlies were in overtime tied at 96-96. Midwestern went on to win the game in triple overtime, 119-114.
