SBNation Reacts Results: Seahawks fans have plenty of October optimism

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country.

Week 4 was the first major challenge for the Mike Macdonald Seattle Seahawks , as Seattle's undefeated start came to an end with a 42-29 loss to the Lions at Ford Field. Fear not, though, because Seahawks fans are still very confident in the team's chances this season, according to the results of the latest poll .

October's four-game slate will begin with a contest against the New York Giants at home, which most Seattle fans feel very secure about.

Despite a slight drop in confidence from last week's poll , 96% say that the Seahawks are heading in the right direction. Losses can be tough, of course, but, like wins, losses are a natural part of any team's season. Peaks and valleys will always be there, and this is no different.

With Macdonald's team back in Seattle for Week 5 against the Giants, it will be a good opportunity for the Seahawks to get back in the win column. New York has lost three out of four to begin the season, which has now become even tougher with wide receiver Malik Nabers (concussion) being ruled out for Sunday's game.

Although the Giants' defense's 84 points allowed is 12th in the NFL through four games, New York has allowed 20 points or more in three of those games, all of which ended in losses. On top of this, the Giants aren't great on offense, scoring just 60 points on the season, which is good for 29th in the league.

Considering New York's early-season struggles, many Seattle fans were optimistic about the Seahawks' chances for Sunday's matchup.

In contrast to the results of last week's poll, a whopping 97% said that they believe Seattle will beat the Giants. Out of that 97%, 62% said that the Seahawks will win by nine points or more.

Even though New York only lost by five against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4's Thursday Night Football matchup, the Giants managed just 303 total yards of offense. By comparison, the Seahawks' lowest offensive yardage total came in Week 1 versus the Denver Broncos, with Seattle obtaining 304 yards of offense in a 26-20 victory.

Between the loss of Nabers and the doubtful availability of running back Devin Singletary (groin), the Seahawks' defense might not be facing some of New York's more potent contributors on offense.

Given the opponents on Seattle's October slate, at least two of this month's games should be winnable. After the Giants game, the Seahawks will host the rival 49ers in Week 6 before traveling to Atlanta for Week 7's matchup versus the Falcons. The month will conclude with a home game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.

Depending on how San Francisco fares with injuries, I see around two or three wins this month. 89% of you agreed, with only 6% saying that Seattle will not win more than once in October.

The Seahawks have gotten healthier as of late, with several players returning from injury. Among them is safety Julian Love, who was named a captain for Week 5 after leaving Monday's game with a thigh injury. In addition to Love, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu is set to make his season debut after missing the first four weeks after tearing his medial collateral ligament (MCL) during the preseason finale versus the Cleveland Browns. Hopefully more players can return from injury as the month progresses to help the team win some crucial games.

October looks to be a good month for Seattle, let's hope the month gets off to a strong start on Sunday!
