Scattered snow showers continue into Tuesday, lake-effect snow possible

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! Active weather this morning will continue for the northern mountain areas this afternoon. Scattered snow showers are expected to continue over the higher terrain under a northwest flow.

So, what's the bottom line? Scattered snow showers continue into Tuesday, lake-effect snow is possible.

Later tonight and into early tomorrow, snow could ramp up again, especially in the mountains. There's a decent chance of lake-effect snow over Davis County tomorrow morning, but the system should clear out by early afternoon, bringing colder temperatures.

Most valleys will see light snow, but the mountains, especially near the Utah/Idaho border, will get decent amounts. Prepare for a hard freeze Tuesday morning across most of the state!

By Wednesday, things calm down with high pressure taking over. Expect warmer, drier weather for the rest of the week, though far northern Utah might get a few leftover showers. Temps will steadily rise, hitting above average by midweek, especially in southern Utah.

This weekend, a new trough might shake things up. Most models keep it dry until Sunday, but there's about a slight chance of rain and snow sneaking into northern Utah by Saturday night, with better odds for wet weather Sunday into Monday.
