SEC announces return of SEC Volleyball Tournament in 2025

A.Davis30 min ago

For the first time in 20 years, the SEC announced that an official SEC Volleyball Tournament will take place next year in Savannah, Georgia. For the next three years, the tournament will take place at Enmarket Arena in Savannah. The scheduled dates for the tournament are Nov. 21-15, 2025; Nov. 20-24, 2026; and Nov. 19-23, 2027.

Previously, the SEC Volleyball Championship took place from 1979 to 2005. Since then, it has been removed from the year-by-year schedule. Only a regular-season SEC champion is crowned each year. While the tournament was held at neutral locations from 1988-93, the years prior and following took place on campuses. Over the 26 tournaments, Kentucky won the title five times. Florida leads the pack with 12 total SEC Tournament titles.

Now with 16 teams in the SEC, we can expect the tourney to include high-level, intense competition between some of the best teams in the nation. Since 2006, the SEC disbanded the tournament and stuck to regular season champions. During the past 17 seasons, Kentucky has won seven regular season championships, all of which are consecutive.

Enmarket Arena, a 9,500-seat complex, opened in February 2022. The Arena is home to the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the East Coast Hockey League.

"We at OVG [Oak View Group] are thrilled to host the SEC Volleyball Tournament at Enmarket Arena and we thank the SEC for choosing us as the site of the Championship these next few years," Monty Jones Jr., General Manager of Enmarket Arena, said.

"Hosting such a prestigious conference like the SEC, along with this exciting tournament, will not only be a showcase of elite athleticism, but also be a milestone for the city."

The SEC named The Savannah Convention Center the official practice facility for the SEC Volleyball Tournament. Currently, the SEC is finalizing details on ticket information for the 2025 SEC Volleyball Championship.
