SEC Media Day: Taylor optimistic heading into year three with Aggies

All 14 women's basketball teams in the Southeastern Conference gathered in Birmingham, Alabama for their SEC Media Day on Wednesday, a day after all the men's teams took center stage.

Texas A&M is coming off a 19-13 season which is ten wins better than Joni Taylor's first year at the helm. The Maroon and White also went to the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2021.

Taylor said her squad spent a lot of time together this summer on an international tour and she's pleased with where they are heading into her third year.

"I'm excited about who we are," Taylor said. "We're versatile. We're big. We're long. We've got the pieces. We've got to stay healthy. We only have 11 on our roster. Honestly, I like having a smaller roster. 15 is a hard load to carry for us and how we play. I'm excited about the people that we have. Going into year three I think we're moving in the right direction. Are we where we want to be? No, because we're not winning championships yet. I think we took a huge step last year. Our goal is to continue to move that program in the right direction, and we're doing that."

The Aggies begin their season on November 4th at home against A&M Corpus Christi.
