Serious collision closes road near train station

A road near to a train station has been closed after a crash between a cyclist and a car.

Emergency services were called to Basildon, Essex, after a serious collision on the junction of Southernhay and Station Way.

An Essex Police spokesperson said a "significant" emergency service response remained at the scene and a road closure was in place.

Police advised people to avoid the area where possible and for anyone to contact them with information relating to the incident.
