Two serious crashes caused road closures in the Twin Cities early Monday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that a "serious injury crash" closed eastbound I-494 near 7th Avenue in Inver Grove Heights at around 4:30 a.m.

No details are available concerning the extent of the injuries that resulted from the crash, but authorities were at the scene for around three hours before the eastbound lanes reopened at 7:30 a.m.

Another closure was reported on Highway 61 near Highway 36 in Maplewood. The State Patrol says that a driver struck a pedestrian in the southbound lanes at around 5:45 a.m.

The crash has been described as "serious," but no information is available as to the pedestrian's condition at this time.
