Several shot, 1 fatally, in less than an hour across Chicago Saturday night

CHICAGO – Multiple people were shot, one fatally, across Chicago Saturday night.

The first shooting happened at 7:33 p.m. in 8500 block of South Manistee Avenue in South Chicago. Police said a 32-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were in a vehicle when they were shot by an unknown suspect.

The man was shot in the back and taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, while the woman was shot in the left flank and back and taken to University of Chicago Hospital in fair condition.

No arrests have been made and Area Two Detectives are investigating.

Chicago police seek suspects in armed robberies at construction sites

At 8 p.m. in the 9400 block of South Perry Avenue in Roseland, two men – ages 20 and 22 – were standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled up and a suspect inside the vehicle fired multiple shots at them.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the left leg and taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition, while the 22-year-old man was shot in the left foot and taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.

The vehicle drove off in an unknown direction. No arrests have been made and Area Two Detectives are investigating.

About five minutes later, a 44-year-old man was shot in the 5400 block of South Paulina Street in Back of the Yards. Officers were sent to the location after receiving a "gunshot detection technology alert" and found the man with two gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital initially listed in good condition.

A person of interest is in custody and Area One Detectives are investigating.

At 8:10 p.m., another shooting was reported in the 1600 block of West 79th Street in Auburn Gresham. A 32-year-old man was on the sidewalk when police said he was shot in the left leg and abdomen by an unknown suspect.

Teen charged with mother's murder appears in court

The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition and Area Two Detectives are investigating. It is unclear if any arrests have been made.

At 8:14 p.m., two men – ages 48 and 52 – were in a yard located in the 1000 block of North Lawler Avenue in Austin when someone fired shots in their direction and fled. The 48-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition; he died from his injuries a short time later, while the 52-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition, according to investigators.

No arrests have been made and Area Four Detectives are investigating.

WGN News crews also found a police presence in the area of East 87th Street and South Jeffrey Boulevard where two people were being treated for gunshot wounds. Police officials at the scene said the victims had been shot at another location several blocks away and may have been chased by someone. Both victims were taken to University of Chicago Hospital and it is unclear if this scene is connected to any of the aforementioned shootings.
