SFPD to offer series of free motorcycle safety training courses with 'Ride to Live' program
The San Francisco Police Department has been awarded a $40,000 state grant to offer free motorcycle safety classes to the public.
The grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety will fund in-person training sessions with local motorcycle officers as part of the "Ride to Live" program.
The safety classes will give riders a chance to learn and practice braking, turning, steering, entering traffic and other skills that can help them avoid crashes and ride more safely.
Schedules and registration information will be posted on the San Francisco Police Department's social media channels at a later date, according to a news release from the department.
The state grant was funded by an allocation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
