Ad Run dates There is a discount for running more than one day, but this must be scheduled on the first run date to apply. If a photo is used, it must be used for both days for the discount to apply, contact us for more information. Policies: Verification of Death: In order to publish obituaries a name and phone number of funeral home/cremation society is required. We must contact the funeral home/cremation society handling the arrangements during their business hours to verify the death. If the body of the deceased has been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program, or a similar program, their phone number is required for verification. Please allow enough time to contact them especially during their limited weekend hours. A death certificate is also acceptable for this purpose but only one of these two options are necessary. Guestbook and Outside Websites: We are not allowed to reference other media sources with a guestbook or an obituary placed elsewhere when placing an obituary in print and online. We may place a website for a funeral home or a family email for contact instead; contact us with any questions regarding this matter. Obituary Process: Once your submission is completed, we will fax or email a proof for review prior to publication in the newspaper. This proof includes price and days the notice is scheduled to appear. Please review the proof carefully. We must be notified of errors or changes before the notice appears in the Pioneer Press based on each day's deadlines. After publication, we will not be responsible for errors that may occur after final proofing. Online: All obituaries appear on TwinCities.com with a permanent online guestbook presence. If you wish to have the online presence removed, you can contact us to remove the guestbook online. Changes to an online obituary can be handled through the obituary desk. BAKER Sharon Lee, nee Beld January 12, 1942 – September 17, 2024, With great sadness we share the passing of our beloved mother.
Sharon was selfless throughout her life, always putting others first and never asking for anything in return. She cherished her children and close friends. She sacrificed greatly and loved wholeheartedly, ensuring others had plenty while she went without.
To her children, she was equal parts mother, father, grandparent, coach and guardian angel. Sharon was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). While a native Michigander, she found her home in Stillwater, MN where she became a much respected and highly regarded journalist, acting as editor of the Stillwater Courier News and family page editor of the Stillwater Evening Gazette. She also served as the recording secretary for the City of Stillwater for many years. Active in the Stillwater community, she sat on a number of advisory committees including the Stillwater Library Board of Trustees and the board of the St. Croix Valley Hockey Association, reflecting her passion for both reading and sports. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI. to Donald O. and Mildred F. (Emaus) Beld; who preceded her in death. Survived by loving children, Scott (Molly) Baker, Todd (Trish) Baker, Kelly (Kerry) Anderson and Ryan (Nicki) Baker; cherished grandchildren, Heather, Andrew, Jack, Henry, Rhys, Vincent, Taylor, Sadie, Blake and Luke; step-grandchildren, Lexy and Tony; bonus great-grandsons, Jace, Jaden and Grayson; sisters, Pat (Walter) Earl of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sally Robertson and her family of Grand Rapids; and step-sister, Cynthia Oseniek and her family of Grand Rapids and Florida. A celebration of Sharon's life will be Friday, October 4, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Children's Home Society of Minnesota, Stillwater Public Library or the donor's choice.
