Shawnee County deputies arrest Topeka man after chase, crash
TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office (SNSO) said a local man was arrested Thursday following a pursuit that ended in a crash.
The SNSO said in a social media statement that just before midnight on Nov. 7, a deputy with the sheriff's office tried to pull over a Buick LeSabre near the intersection of Southeast 21st Street and Southeast Adams Street. The Buick's license plate was matched to a different vehicle and one of its headlights was not working.
The driver of the Buick refused to stop and a chase began. The deputy later stopped the pursuit near Southwest 15th Street and Southwest Topeka Boulevard due to safety reasons. Deputies searching the area later found the Buick had crash into an unoccupied vehicle before landing in a nearby yard.

Law enforcement arrested a man believed to have been driving the Buick in the 1500 block of Southwest Fillmore Street. The 48-year-old Topeka man was arrested for the following:
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement.
Operating a vehicle without registration or with an expired tag.
Defective headlamps.
Failure to stop at a stop sign.
Operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license.
Possession of marijuana.
Failure to stop at an accident.
