Native American Heritage Month Art Installation

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month this November at the Missoula Public Library. Starting Nov. 1, visit Level Four to experience powerful art from two incredible Indigenous artists, Dre Castillo and Monica Gilles BringsYellow on display all month long.

Story Time for Diverse Abilities

Join Youth Services librarians when they read a selection of engaging stories geared toward teens through adults with cognitive or other disabilities. This program is held twice a month with the next Story Time happening on Nov. 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Families First Classroom on Level Two of the library.

Election Day at Missoula Public Library

Missoula Public Library services will be unavailable on Nov. 5 in observance of Election Day. As an official polling place, the library will be open for voting from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information about polling places in your area visit: missoulacounty.us/government/administration/elections-office .

MakerSpace Mending and Sewing

Bring your damaged clothing to the Makerspace and learn how to mend them during these mending and sewing-focused walk-in hours. This drop-in program is held every Wednesday with the next session on Nov. 6 from 2 to 5:30 p.m. in the MakerSpace on Level One of the library.

Potomac Branch Puzzle Exchange

On Nov. 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. puzzle lovers of Potomac are welcome to exchange their gently used puzzles for new-to-them puzzles! Stop by the Potomac Branch at 29750 Potomac Road to take one/leave one while enjoying light snacks and beverages. Please make sure all puzzle pieces are in the box.

YMCA Yoga at the Library

Missoula Public Library is thrilled to partner with Missoula Family YMCA to offer free yoga at the library! On Nov. 7 from noon to 1 p.m. in Cooper Room A on Level Four of the library we will focus on basic yoga postures, alignment principles, and breathing techniques that help balance, strengthen and stretch the body — beginners are welcome!

Game On! MPL

Get your game on at MPL! Switch games and controllers will be available for gamers to use every Thursday from 2:30-5:30 on Level Two. Prove you are the master of Rainbow Road or smash your opponents in Super Smash Bros.! This gaming time is intended for children/youth 16 and under. The next Game On! session is on Nov. 7 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Imaginarium on Level Two.

Dream Bigger Teen After-School Program

On Nov. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Art Box on Level Two of the library, this after-school initiative offers participants the chance to lead their own projects with the support of professional mentors and seed funding, explore career paths through real-world experiences, and gain essential durable skills like critical thinking and collaboration. Cooking for Kids

Kids can learn how to make tasty treats, simple meals, and fun foodstuffs at your local library! Kid-friendly recipes will be shared with young chefs, who will get the chance to make their own food to enjoy and take home. The next program is held Nov. 7 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Demonstration Kitchen on Level Three of the library.

Missoula Scholastic Chess Club at MPL

Students from grades 2-12 are invited to come play and learn new moves and beginners are welcome. The next club meeting will be on Nov. 7 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Cooper Room B on Level Four of the library.

Genealogy MPL: Civil War Ancestors

Is there a Civil War ancestor in your family tree? On Nov. 9 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Blackfoot Room on Level Four of the library find out where to look for records related to their service.

MPL MakerSpace: Introduction to Laser Cutters

On Nov. 9 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the MakerSpace on Level One of the library participants will learn the basics of how laser cutters work, and how to use the one in the Makerspace specifically. The class will consist of a brief discussion, followed by participants practicing what they learned by making their own engraving.

Get Lit! Program Series: PainSavvy Health Literacy

On Nov. 10 from 1 to 1:15 p.m. in the Blackfoot Room on Level Four of the library join this health literacy class to learn about strategies for preventing and overcoming persistent pain, increase movement and have fun! Join us for a 25-minute talk about pain and evidence informed pain management followed by an optional 25-minute walk. Times are approximate and participants are welcome to walk as much or as little as they'd like. No registration required.

Family History Month Series: Family History Writing Contest Continues

Calling all family historians! Enter genealogical writing about your Montana ancestors in Missoula Public Library's second annual Family History Writing Contest.
