Shirley J. Murray, 66, of Ship Bottom, N.J., died Saturday at Southern
Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin, N.J. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the
daughter of the late Lawrence Murray and Mary Murray Kovach. She resided in
many sections of New York and Northern New Jersey before moving to Ship Bottom
in 1971. She was employed by St. Agnes Medical Center, Philadelphia, for 23
years, retiring in 1996 as vice president of patient services. She was also a
registered nurse and was instrumental in starting many of the programs at St.
Agnes. She was formerly employed as the first director of nursing at Southern
Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin. Throughout her nursing career, she taught
and supervised nursing. She was a member of the American Nurses Association
and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church, Brant Beach, N.J.
Surviving are her brother, Michael Kovach, Plains Township; sister, Joanne
Yusko, Forty Fort; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis of Assisi
R.C. Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach. Interment will be in St.
Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from

Ship Bottom.
