SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Happy Friday, Utah! It's been a soggy past 24 hours with healthy valley rain and mountain snow totals.

Several locations along the east bench of the Wasatch Front have received well over an inch of rain with this storm system. Valley rain and mountain snow showers remain possible through the first half of the weekend while moisture will decrease over northern Utah throughout the afternoon/evening. Winter storm warnings remain in place through midnight for our northern mountain areas through noon on Saturday in southern Utah, where general snow totals are expected to be around 8-16′′. Temperatures are significantly colder this afternoon statewide with most areas trending 15 degrees below seasonal averages.

Heads up for strong winds! Eastern Weber, Davis, and northeastern Salt Lake counties could see gusts up to 60 mph Friday night into Saturday morning, with a slim chance of hitting 70 mph in spots like Centerville and Farmington. A High Wind Warning is in effect for Weber and Davis, with a Wind Advisory for northeastern Salt Lake. Brigham City might get in on the action too. If you've got outdoor decorations, furniture, or trampolines in these areas, secure them to avoid damage.

Another windy spot is around Black Ridge Canyon and the Beaver Dam Mountains. Gusts could exceed 55 mph, so a High Wind Warning is in place there too. Folks in nearby towns like Hurricane and Toquerville should take precautions.

Freeze Warnings are up for parts of Utah County, the Uinta Basin, and eastern Box Elder County. Temperatures are expected to drop down to 30 degrees overnight, potentially killing and sensitive plants or crops.

Looking ahead into next week, high pressure will build back over the region and temperatures will gradually rebound to above-normal highs. Temperatures across the state will be roughly 10 degrees above normal by midweek.
