Sh*t That Comes Out Today: September 20, 2024

R.Green1 hr ago

It's finally here — the Metal Injection Festival out in Brooklyn is happening this Saturday and Sunday! You have tickets, right?! Be sure to get yours now and catch some killer sets from the likes of Revocation, 3 Inches of Blood, God Forbid, Converge, and a whole lot more!

Charlotte Wessels

The Obsession (Napalm Records)

Ex-Delain vocalist Charlotte Wessels is back with another dark and heavy solo effort. Featuring some of her former bandmates as the backing band and some guest performances from the likes of Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz and Epica's Simone Simons, this one covers themes of fear, obsession, and escapism while maintaining a sound that's uniquely Wessels'.

Glacial Tomb

Lightless Expanse (Prosthetic Records)

Sludge and death metal swirl in a gyre of abyssal fury whenever Glacial Tomb gets going. With this being their sophomore album, they definitely ratchet up the unrelenting diet of blast beats, deathly growls, and razor-sharp guitar attacks.

Kublai Khan TX

Exhibition of Prowess (Rise Records)

Texan metalcore outfit Kublai Khan TX are back with their fifth studio album and once again it's an exercise in how to deliver the most efficient sonic beatdown possible. If you don't make a stank face and bang your head to this one, maybe you should just try something else...

Unto Others

Never, Neverland (Century Media)

Who doesn't love a little goth metal as the summer dies and fall begins taking hold? Sure, they used to be known as Idle Hands, but Unto Others still remains firmly interested in delivering gloomy, yet exciting hooks that keep you coming back for more.

Vended (Vended)

Yes, the band that has the sons of Slipknot's Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan in it is getting a spot on this list. And while I would have thrown this up regardless of whether it was good or bad given that fact, our reviewer C.C. Delorean actually enjoyed the hell out of this one. Sure, they look like they're all gimmick, but they've done something interesting with their debut.
