SIMSBURY, CT — Short of going to Santa's castle at the North Pole, one would be hard-pressed to find as festive a location for Christmas joy than Simsbury on Saturday, Nov. 25.

That's because "Simsbury Celebrates!" — presented by UConn Health — will take place that day from 5 to 8:30 p.m., the town's "signature holiday extravaganza" that organizers promise will be "the best in its 22-year history."

For this event, downtown Simsbury on Hopmeadow Street will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland as the streets in the center are closed to motor vehicles.

There, revelers of all ages can stroll along with carolers, costumed performers, and entertainers.

The free celebration features music, theater, and dance performances throughout downtown, with the highlight of the evening showcasing Santa Claus in the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co.’s Torchlight Fire Truck Parade.

The Gingerbread House Contest contestants and winners will be on display at the Simsbury Free Library.

Meanwhile, the area’s most popular food trucks will be parked throughout the town center.

The evening will cap off with a spectacular fireworks show and holiday sing-along at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, 22 Iron Horse Blvd., Simsbury .

The 2023 celebration offers an impressive list of events and attractions for all ages, including the following:

A plethora of holiday activities, food, music, games and other activities will take place along the downtown area.

The annual Simsbury Firetruck Parade, with the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co. decorating its trucks in the holiday spirit.

The culminating event is the annual Fireworks Spectacular, with fireworks launched from the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center.

This year’s celebration is made possible by UCONN Health, the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co., Show Lighting, Northwest Community Bank, Bill and Ann Garrity, Linda Johnson, MD Consulting Group LLC and many others.

“Thanks to the contributions of local businesses, community groups, and families, we are looking forward to a spectacular evening,” said Tara Willerup, chairperson of Simsbury Celebrates Committee. “Simsbury Celebrates! has become a much-anticipated family tradition; a wonderful way for residents of the Farmington Valley to kick off the holiday season.”

Since 2001, Simsbury Celebrates! has been a free community holiday celebration organized by the all-volunteer Simsbury Celebrates Committee.

The nonprofit event is traditionally held the Saturday after Thanksgiving in and on Hopmeadow Street, in the center of Simsbury.
