MINDEN, La. (KSLA) - A driver left the roadway and fatally crashed into a tree in Webster Parish. On Nov. 1, at 11:45 a.m., the Louisiana State Police (LSP) responded to a single-vehicle crash on Dorcheat Road, north of Grigsby Road in Webster Parish. The crash claimed the life of John Waldron, 70, of Sibley. During the investigation, it was revealed that Waldron was driving a 2013 Ford pickup noth on Dorcheat Road when, for unknown reasons, he exited the roadway and collided with a tree. Waldron, who was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment is not suspected by LSP, but routine toxicology samples have been taken and submitted for testing. The crash remains under investigation. "While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant's chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injuries. Ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death," says a statement from LSP.
