Skeletal remains found near Pa. park, officials say

Officials in Lehigh County are working to identify the remains of a person found near Trout Creek Park in Allentown, officials with the county coroner said Saturday.

What are believed to be the skeletal remains of a 33-year-old man were found near an underpass in a wooded area of the 1200 block of South 8th Street on Friday morning, authorities said.

Officials said they have presumptively identified the person, but are awaiting further analysis of the remains and a comparison of dental records.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine a cause and manner of death, officials from the coroner's office said.

The Allentown Police Department and coroner's office are investigating the discovery. Allentown police did not immediately respond to questions Saturday.

Authorities did not share additional details Saturday.
